RESEARCH LINE: COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA
Coordinators: Dr. Rodrigo Browne – Dr. Jaime Otazo
The Communication and Media line aims to study, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the tensions, relationships, and intersections between communications, their theories, and the media and its mediations. In this field, work can be developed from classic spaces of interpersonal or group mediations, as well as through devices and tools specific to the history of mass media (press, radio, TV), and the analysis of media products from contemporary remote, virtual, and digitalized devices.

RESEARCH LINE: COMMUNICATION AND POWER IN INTER, MULTI, AND TRANSCULTURAL CONTEXTS
Coordinators: Dr. Camilla Cárdenas / Dra. Paula Flores
This line focuses on the phenomena, processes, and issues of communication and power occurring in specific contexts of relations between different cultures; considering the tensions and disputes expressed in the demands for a new social treatment, where, for example, conceptions of gender, sexual dissidence, ethnicities, migrations, and diversities in general are at the center of the debate. Various disciplines from the social sciences, humanities, and education sciences converge in this area.

RESEARCH LINE: COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE
Coordinators: Dr. Rodrigo Moulian – Dr. Rubén Sánchez
This line focuses on the study of communication as a mechanism for cultural actualization within social life. Its object of study is symbolic and communicative mediations, understood as different modes of intervention by signs and processes of social production and reproduction of meaning in human sociability. This includes the study of primary and secondary modeling systems, expressive, cognitive, social, and instrumental practices mediated symbolically, and the resulting textual products, materials, and institutional systems across different historical contexts. Communication is understood here as a basic constituent instance of the phenomenology of the social, through which models of common order are proposed, reproduced, and disputed.
