LINE OF RESEARCH: COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA

The Communication and Media line aims to study, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the tensions, relations, and junctions between communications, their theories and media, and their mediations. Within this scope, work can be developed from the classic spaces of interpersonal or group mediations, as well as through devices and tools corresponding to the histories of communication media (press, radio, TV); likewise, analysis can concentrate on media products originating from contemporary remote, virtual, and digital devices.

LINE OF RESEARCH: COMMUNICATION AND INTER-, MULTI-, AND TRANSCULTURAL CONTEXTS

This line of research is centered on the communication phenomena, processes, and issues that arise from specific contexts of relation between different cultures, considering the tensions and disputes expressed in demands for a new social intercourse. It corresponds to spaces where, for example, conceptions of gender, sexual dissidences, ethnicities, immigrations, and diversities in general are at the center of debate. This area calls upon studies from linguistics, sociology, literature, and education, among others, in line with the presence of said contexts.

LINE OF RESEARCH: COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE

This line of research delves into the study of communication as an instance of cultural actualization in the articulation of social life. Its object of study is symbolic and communicative mediations, which are understood as the distinct modes of intervention of signs in processes of social production and reproduction of meaning in the configuration of human sociability. This entails the study of primary and secondary modeling systems, symbolically-mediated expressive, cognitive, social, and instrumental practices, and the textual and material processes and institutional systems resulting from them, in different contexts and historical moments. We understand communication as a primary instance in the constitution of the phenomenology of the social, through which models of common order are proposed, reproduced, and disputed. Its modes of production, forms of articulation, and consequences for social life are our object of study.

La línea Comunicación, Ciencia y Tecnologías tiene como objetivo fundamental la construcción de conocimiento en torno a objetos de estudios que se orientan hacia la comunicación y divulgación xientífica, las implicancias de los cambios tecnológicos en los procesos de comunicación y la ciencia de datos aplicada a la comprensión de los ecosistemas informacionales y comunicativos. Caben en esta línea, por ejemplo, los estudios de comunicación en redes sociales, las innovaciones educomunicativas mediadas por tecnologías y la búsqueda de fórmulas para la comunicación de la ciencia y los problemas globales.
