• ACADEMIC PROJECT

The creation of the Doctorate in Communication comes in response to the principles and projections of the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) and the Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), allowing for the strengthening of both institutions’ undergraduate and graduate programs in the area of Communication; furthermore, the program represents only the fourth of its kind in Chile and the first outside the capital region with emphasis on issues of communication and culture.

The program is girded by the Strategic Plans of the Universidad de la Frontera and the Universidad Austral de Chile, aspiring particularly toward their objectives of “widening the selection of networked doctoral programs in areas with sustained scientific productivity” (UFRO) and “increasing programs offered and enrollment at the graduate level in diverse modalities and educational contexts” (UACh).

The UFRO – UACh Doctorate in Communication finds its foundations in the advances in research, education, publication, and management carried out by the academics and graduate programs in Communication of both universities.

SYSTEM OF INTERNAL ORGANIZATION

Doctoral programs at the UFRO and the UACh have a system of direction and management with functions and attributes that are clearly defined in the regulations that concern them, corresponding, respectively, to the General Regulations for Doctoral Programs of the Universidad de La Frontera and the General Regulations for Doctoral Programs of the Universidad Austral de Chile, which establish a system of direction composed of Program Director/Coordinator and an Academic Committee. Additionally, the program has its own Joint Regulation for the Doctorate in Communication which establishes, among other things, the duties of the Program Director and of the Academic Committee/Program Committee.
